About Ellur
Ellur is the stage name of Ella McNamara, a Halifax-raised singer-songwriter whose name simply writes her first name the way a Yorkshire accent says it. Her father, Richard McNamara, co-founded Embrace, but she has built her own indie-pop sound, one critics have set beside Holly Humberstone and Nieve Ella (NME) and Sharon Van Etten and Wolf Alice (Dork). Her influences run from Adele and Radiohead to CMAT and The War on Drugs, which led The Line of Best Fit to call her music "collagic". She credits the space and serenity of home, and co-writers including Joel Johnston and Benjamin Francis Leftwich, with shaping it.
Before music became a full-time job she worked as a barista and a gardener, playing covers in pubs at weekends. Her first single, "Reflection", arrived in January 2020, followed in August 2021 by the EP Moments on Leeds label Dance to the Radio. She headlined a three-date tour in 2024 and a sold-out six-date run in 2025, supporting Kaiser Chiefs, Blossoms and Supergrass along the way. Leeds Festival's BBC Music Introducing stage came in August 2024, then Latitude and South by Southwest, her first US show. Her debut album, At Home In My Mind, came out on 6 February 2026 and reached number 41 on the UK Albums Chart.
