Few groups carried the CBGB scene's restless energy into the mainstream as convincingly as Blondie, the New York band built around singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein. Early pioneers of new wave, they reached a worldwide audience with 1978's Parallel Lines, then kept moving across genres with "Heart of Glass", "Call Me" and "Rapture". Their sales now exceed 40 million, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame welcomed them in 2006.
